Sealstar

We are shaped by our history, to say otherwise is naïve. Sealstar has changed in many ways since she was a kit. She grew up in a different clan, a prosperous one. She was cherished as a kit, the only kit of the beloved deputy. Her father was a mystery to her, but it was alright because the entire clan acted like a second parent to her. Sealkit was a tiny thing, many feared she wouldn't survive the winter. Ever ambitious, Sealkit proved them all wrong. 

Her apprenticeship was longer than most, her mentor seemed to hold her to a higher standard than the others. Unlike most, this did not in any way bother Sealpaw, but instead instilled a sense of pride in herself that would eventually lead to self-righteousness. The clan leader died one winter when the green-cough had been particularly bad. Her mother was now the leader. 

Given her warrior name of Sealfang by her mother, she continued to excel in the clan. Her ambition drove her to success and her adaptability allowed her to become resilient. Her mother had been made deputy by her own father, and Sealfang's mother continued the tradition by naming her daughter deputy.

Sealfang took her duty as deputy very seriously and was ever the overly compliant and blindly obedient daughter her mother needed her to be. An apprentice was being foolish? Sealfang would supervise the punishment. A warrior acted disgracefully? Sealfang would enforce the punishment. An elder complained about their leader? Sealfang would be the one to report it. A warrior spoke of overthrowing her mother? Sealfang would strike the killing blow.

Sealstar had seen the death of her mother coming. She was greatly disliked in the clan and it was no accident when she had been found at the bottom of a ditch, fur mangled and pelt torn. Sealstar knew she would be a better leader than her mother, she began by naming her uncle as deputy. Her closest advisor she knew he would not let her down. They quelled any rebellion in the clan, drove out or killed any troublemakers; life was back to normal. Until is wasn't. Groups of rogues appeared in the night, attacking all her family members but none of her other clanmates. It was difficult, but she recognised their scents, they were her former clanmates, ones they had driven out for a few minor misdemeanours.

Sealstar had fled that night. Her uncle and other family had stayed, but she knew she had to get away with her life. She had returned early the next day, but they were gone. The camp was abandoned, the scent of blood still lingering in the air. Her life as a loner was perilous, many other cats already had a natural disliking of her and she wasn't welcome anywhere. Sealstar knew she had to go far away from her past.

Sealstar had always liked the ocean and had liked visiting as a young kit. Her new clan, she decided, was to be named OceanClan. She spent many moons on her own, gaining a reputation of being a house cat gone feral. She marked out her territory, patrolling them daily. She would stumble upon loner's occasionally but quickly sent them packing. She also began to realise the corruption in her former clan, gaining a sense of understanding of her usurpers. Deciding her new clan would be free of corrupt behaviour, she began looking for new clan mates in the many different places, from the twolegplace to the farms. Eventually, she would have a clan again and they would not repeat her mistakes.
